Choosing the right number of pendant lights to hang over your island is important to the look of your kitchen.

The number of lights that you need is determined by the size and length of your island. A larger number of lights can't be hung over the island while still being visually balanced. Some rule of thumbs:

  • For smaller islands, two pendant lights with a small diameter should fit the match
  • A larger pendant light in the center could be a great option for 3 or 4-ft
• Number of pendant lights required for a 5 foot, 6 foot, or 7 foot island
  • Islands in this category appear to be morr visually appealing when using two-midsized pendant lights to hang over them.
• Number of pendant lights required for a 8 foot, 9 foot, or 10 foot island
  • With this size range, the amount of lights that can be hung over can change from two to three. This comes to what amount of accent lighting you want and design needs.
• Number of pendant lights required for a 12 or more foot island?
  • Going with three or more pendant lights will ensure the perfect lighting. Keep in mind, if you want smaller pendants, choose 3-6 pendants to go above your island.
