What is a refrigeration condensing unit?

Refrigeration condensing units are typically high-side assemblies that consist of a compressor, condenser, fan motor, controls, and a mounting plate. They control the temperature inside the refrigeration unit using refrigerant. The refrigerant changes from a liquid to a gas, absorbing heat, and transferring it out of the unit.

Condensing units can range in size depending on what they’re used for. Smaller household appliances require smaller condensing units while industrial applications require larger condensing units.

What is the difference between a condenser and a condensing unit?

A condenser, or outdoor condenser, works with an air conditioning system to supply cool air. They work as part of a two-part system that includes an indoor air handler and an outdoor condenser. The outdoor condenser sits outside the home and releases the extra heat from the air, allowing your home to feel cool and comfortable.

A refrigeration condensing unit works with appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, beverage coolers, service coolers, and more. They work similarly to an air conditioning system by transferring excess heat outside of the unit and keeping the appliance at the appropriate temperature.

Why choose Embraco condensing units?

With the same trusted quality standards as their compressors, Embraco offers highly efficient and easy to service condensing units. Embraco has produced condensing units since the 90's and has a dedicated R&D team as well as two factories designed for assembling their condensing units.

Their standard condensing units work in applications that have different pressure requirements. The different pressure levels include LBP, MBP, and HBP.

  • LBP: stands for Low Back Pressure. They use an evaporating temperature approximately between -31 degrees Fahrenheit (-35 degrees Celsius) to 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 degrees Celsius). They often work in applications such as freezers and refrigerators.
  • MBP: stands for Medium Back Pressure. They have an evaporating temperature approximately between 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-15 degrees Celsius) to 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius). They can work in applications such as beverage and self-service displays.
  • HBP: stands for High Back Pressure. They have an evaporating temperature approximately between 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) to 59 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius). They often work in applications such as self-service coolers and wine coolers.

Embraco offers condensing units that can work in LBP/MBP and LBP/MBP/HBP applications as well.
