What is the difference between emergency light and exit light?

Exit signs declare either the word ‘EXIT’ or a pictograph showing the direction to an exit. Exit signs install near doorways to indicate access to an exit. In the event of an emergency, this points the way to an emergency egress route, or pathway out of the building. You can find single or double faced options. Single faced options used with one side facing a vertical surface, like a wall. Double faced options work in areas, like hallways, where someone may walk in both direction and allows them to view the sign when walking in either direction.

Emergency lights consist of light heads that turn on automatically when the power goes out. These lights draw power using a battery, or battery backup, to supply light once the power goes out. Emergency lighting typically light pathways and exits leading out of the building to create a safe exit.

What color should exit signs be?

In the United States, exit signs can use green or red letters. Though traditionally red, some cities and states are switching over to green. This may be because, in other signage, the color red usually symbolizes ‘STOP’ while green means ‘GO.’ Some cities and states may require or prefer one color while other areas may allow either.

Check with local codes to see if your area requires or prefers a certain color.

What exit and emergency signs does EnVision LED Lighting offer?

EnVision LED Lighting offers a variety of emergency and exit signs. They offer emergency exit signs, emergency exit sign combos, edge-lit emergency exit signs, and emergency LED light options.

Their LED emergency exit sign options can install on walls or ceilings near exit locations. They use a nickel cadmium battery with a charging time of 24 hours and discharge time or backup time of 90 minutes. They feature a test switch and charge indication, film protectant for extra shatter protection and Title 20 compliance. They come in both green and red, single and double faced sign options.

Their exit sign and emergency light combo features the same benefits as the emergency exit signs with the addition of LED emergency lights. They can wall or ceiling mount.

The edge-lit emergency exit sign comes in green and red lights as well as single or double sided options. Similar to the emergency exit signs, they use a nickel cadmium battery and offer a charging time of 24 hours with a discharge time or backup time of 90 minutes.

Their emergency light options work well along with exit signs and can see use on walls or ceilings near exit locations. They also use a nickel cadmium battery with a charging time of 24 hours and discharge time or backup time of 90 minutes.
