Step and deck lighting improves the safety around a staircase and work as either indoor or outdoor lighting. They work well when installed by stairs or handrails. Step and stair lights commonly see use brightening outdoor deck or landscape areas, but they can also illuminate staircases indoors. They typically install on the riser of the step but may install on the tread or a nearby wall.
Depending on the fixture, step lights may recess or surface mount. Since recessed lighting solutions remain low profile and avoid drawing attention to themselves, they work well in minimalist designs. Surface mount fixtures can also act as a type of wall light whose decorative design makes a statement.
You may not need step lights on every stair, since placing step lights too close together can oversaturate the area, making it too bright and harder to see the surrounding area. Don’t place the lights too far apart either, as this creates dark, hard-to-see areas. Instead, try alternating every other step to cover the lights. Where you place them may differ as it can depend on the size or number of the steps.
Louvers help control the light distributions. Louvers with angled slats work well to direct light downward and reduce glare from the fixture.
A frosted lens provides a softer, more diffused light than a light without it. It also helps eliminate hot spots in lighting.
EnVision LED Lighting offers step and stair light fixture options in 2700K, 3000K, or 4000K. 2700K provides a warm white light similar to that of an incandescent bulb that creates a cozy ambiance. 3000K provides a soft white light that creates a warm, relaxing atmosphere. 4000K gives off a neutral white light that provides a balanced tone.
EnVision LED step lights come in three different color temperatures: 2700K, 3000K, or 4000K. They also come in three different finishes: white, bronze, or black. Each step light includes three face plates, including horizontal angle louvre, vertical angle louvre, and flat frosted lens. This allows you to choose the direction you want to install the fixture in as well as the intensity of the light output.
Their fixtures include an IP67 rating for indoor and outdoor use.
