How to clean a bathroom fan?

Cleaning your bathroom fan periodically is the best way to keep it fully functioning and working properly. Below are the steps to clean the bathroom fan.

  • To begin, turn the power off to the fan and the circuit breaker. Once the power is off, remove the vent cover. Do this by gently pulling down on the cover and squeezing the metal mounting wires on both sides. Then take them out of the slots and remove them from the housing.
  • Then, clean the vent cover by filling the bathroom sink with warm water and dish soap. Then soak the cover in soapy water and scrub it. After it is clean, put the cover on a towel and let it air dry.
  • While the vent is drying, clean the fan without removing the motor. Use a vacuum to remove the dust. Once the dust is removed, wipe the fan to remove any extra dirt.
  • Then, remove the motor for deep cleaning. Once the motor is removed, vacuum the motor and clean it.
  • Once everything is cleaned and dust free, put the fan back together. Then test the fan to ensure everything works.

How many CFM for bathroom fans?

Fantech bathroom fans have a CFM range of 50 to 110 CFM. A wide range of CFM allows you to choose the best fan for your bathroom.

It is recommended to choose a bathroom fan that can ventilate at least 1 CFM per square foot of room.

  • Bathrooms 50 square feet and smaller should have bath fans under 79 CFM.
  • Bathrooms that are medium-sized should have bath fans between 80 to 99 CFM.
  • Bathrooms that are over 100 square feet but under 150 square feet, should use over 100 CFM bath fans.

Make sure to choose the best bathroom fan for your bathroom.
