How to install an Inline Duct Fan?

To install an inline duct fan, please consult with a licensed electrician to perform the installation. At HomElectrical, we do not encourage DIY projects.

Below are the steps the electrician will take to install the inline duct fan in your home.

  • First, they will turn the power off to the area they will be working in. This will prevent them from being electrocuted.
  • Then, the electrician will remove the old vent cap from the exhaust duct. They will check for screws. If the screws are there, the electrician will remove them. If the screws are not there, they will gently pry the vent off.
  • When the old vent cap is removed, the electrician will place the inline duct into the exhaust duct. Once inside the exhaust duct, the electrician will screw in place the inline duct to secure it.
  • Finally, the electrician will turn the power back on and test the inline duct fan. Once the test is finished, that will complete the installation.

Can you wire an Inline Duct Fan into a furnace blower?

Yes, you can wire an inline duct fan into a furnace blower. However, wiring the inline is not a simple task to do. One of the reasons is due to the wiring. If the wires are connected incorrectly, this could lead to system malfunctions, inefficient airflow, and other potential hazards.

It is also important to check if the inline fan is compatible with the furnace blower. If the inline fan is not compatible, it could overload the system and breakdown or work improperly. Another danger with incompatible parts is adding too much electrical load on the system. Unfortunately, this can trip the breakers or even damage the HVAC system.
