How do I install a General Electric RAK160W2 Wireless Thermostat?

GE provides users with an installation guide on installing General Electric RAK160W2 Wireless Thermostat.

Below is a brief overview of what the installation guide says. If you want the full guide, click here.

There are two types of installations that the electrician should follow when installing the RAK160W2. The first is wired installation, while the second is wireless installation.

For the thermostat installation the electrician should follow the steps below:

  • Power off the Zoneline AC Unit.
  • After the Zoneline is off, connect the R & C from the Zoneline unit by splicing 24VAC wires and common wires from the thermostat into the 24V line and common wires going back to the Zoneline.
  • Insert the Control Card wiring harness into the thermostat connection port.
  • Then attach the control card to the Zoneline control box cover using double-sided tape.
  • Remove thermostat cover.
  • Use the included mounting screws and wall anchors to secure the thermostat
  • Configure the thermostat by setting the thermostat clock, entering the room number, and locking in the desired equipment settings.
  • Reattach the thermostat cover and secure the mounting with locking screws.

Once the thermostat installation is completed, the electrican will begin the wireless installation. The steps are below:

  • To begin, the electrician removes the thermostat cover.
  • Then they use the supplied wall anchors and mounting screws to secure the thermostat to the wall.
  • The electrician inserts two AA-cell batteries into the thermostat battery compartment.
  • Once these steps are completed, the electrician will replace the thermostat cover and screw in the locking screw.

How to install a through the wall air conditioner sleeve?

There are two different ways you can install a GE Wall Sleeve. One way is by installing through the wall opening. Installing the wall sleeve this way means that you need to pull the sleeve from one side to another side. You also need to have a slight tilt from the front to the rear. This installation does not use any drills.

The second way to install the wall sleeve is by using mounting brackets. This installation process uses mounting holes to align with the sleeve. Using the mounting brackets allows you to place plugs in the sleeve and pull the wall sleeve around the AC unit.
