What is a BR 30 bulb?
A BR30 bulb is a light bulb that is part of the reflector family. BR means it has a "bulged reflector", while "30" is the bulb's diameter in eighths of an inch. Use LED BR30 bulbs in recessed and floodlighting applications to provide directional, focused light in an area. In homes, BR30 bulbs are mostly found in bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and garages.
What is a type R bulb?
An R bulb is a reflector light bulb that is normally placed in retail and office spaces. The "R" stands for reflector, while "BR" bulbs are 'bulged reflectors'. R-type bulbs have a protruding head making them more suited for semi-enclosed fixtures such as pendant, track and recessed can lights.
R20 bulbs are the most common of R bulbs, providing flood lighting in homes across the world. LED R bulbs use a reflective or frosted surface to maximize light output and prevent glare during operation. However, there are several other R-type bulbs, all featuring different diameters.
