The main difference between low and high bays is the height at which you should install it. High bays are typically installed on ceilings that are between 20 and 40 feet tall. Low bays, on the other hand, are installed in ceilings lower than 20 feet above the ground.
Another difference is the location each bay type is used. You can typically find low bays in frozen storages, gas stations, and retail stores. High bays are normally found in storage facilities, factories, and airport hangars.
The beam angle is another difference between the two bays. High bay lighting has beam angles of 60-, 90- and 120 degrees while low bays tend to use beam angles of 120 degrees.
High Bays can be hung or mounted in many different ways. One of the more common ways to hang high bays is to suspend it from the ceiling. You can suspend them by attaching cables or chains to hooks on the back of the fixture.
Another way to hang the high bays is to directly mount the high bay by either a surface or yoke mount. Surface mounts are commonly used for level ceilings that do not require angle adjustment. Yoke mounting is similar but also allows for angle adjustment.
