LED A23 Bulbs

“Type-A” bulbs are mostly teardrop or pear-shaped light sources that are most used for general lighting purposes. A-type light bulbs are roughly 5-6 inches in length and usually have a 3.2-inch diameter. Some LED type-A bulbs can have clear or frosted glass and are dimmable in many cases. There are different kinds of commonly used type-A bulbs that you can choose from:

• A23 lightbulbs are the most common size of type-A bulbs. Most models have dimmable capabilities and can vary in light color. A23 bulbs have a diameter of 2.8 inches on average and are best at producing larger amounts of light.
• A21 light bulbs are 2.6 inches in diameter and are usually 5 inches in length. Like A23 bulbs, A21 bulbs can accommodate higher wattages to produce greater amounts of light than A19 and A15 bulbs.
• A15 bulbs are the smallest of A-Type lightbulbs and have a diameter of only 1.8 inches. This makes them suitable for decorative lighting in personal or commercial spaces.

Our A23 lightbulbs use LED technology that use half the amount of energy as incandescents, while producing the same or more amounts of light. This makes LED lighting much more energy efficient than standard incandescent light bulbs that will need to utilize every ounce of energy to produce light.

Some manufacturers will provide the equivalent wattage amount of a standard incandescent bulb to display the efficiency of LED technology. For example, a Satco 25W A23 light bulb is equivalent to 200W in a standard A23 incandescent bulb.

Light sources with a CRI rating below 80 can desaturate most colors, sometimes making them unidentifiable to the naked eye.

• Most LED A23 light bulbs will have the basic E26 screw in base that is compatible with roughly 90 percent of standard closed or open light fixtures.
• Some models of A23 LED light fixtures are constructed with an EX39 or extended mogul base. These bases have a longer screw tip that can operate with either standard E39 or EX39 light fixture inserts. Although EX39 bases can be used with closed or open light fixtures, E39 bases are used with closed fixtures only.

Aside from the most important individual benefits to LED lighting, such as energy efficiency, some states offer rebates on LED lighting purchases for qualifying businesses and commercial properties to entice owners to convert to greener power. Although these programs are everchanging, eligibility for the rebate program saves commercial and industrial consumers on LED lighting costs each year.
