Why buy LED over incandescent?

LED bulbs provide a longer lifespan and greater energy efficiency than incandescent bulbs. Available in greater lumens/watt and with a wider variety of color temperature options.

Do LED bulbs contain mercury?

LED bulbs are 100% mercury-free. Unlike CFL or incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs do not use any gases or dangerous chemicals. So never have to worry about what's in your bulb again!

What does the number after the BR mean on the bulbs?

In the U.S., the diameter of a bulb is expressed using a number following the type of bulb. The number represents 1/8ths of an inch. For example, a BR30 light bulb is 30 "1/8ths" or 30/8 inches in diameter (that's about 3.75 inches). Discover what size bulb you need with our Light Bulb Fitting Guide!

What is the difference between a cfl and an LED bulb?

When comparing LED bulbs to traditional fluroescent or CFLs, there are several things to consider:

  • Lumens Per Watt: LED bulbs are the most energy-efficient option for your light fixtures. They can offer the same lumen output using less power than traditional incandescent bulbs. For example, a 20W LED bulb will provide the same 1,600 lumens as a 100W incandescent bulb. CFLs are similar in their lumen-to-wattage ratio. To achieve the same brightness of 1,600 lumens, you would use a 23W CFL bulb.
  • No Mercury: Unlike CFLs, LED bulbs DO NOT contain mercury, making them safer to handle when broken.

Are the bulbs dimmable, and if not, is there any way for them to be compatible with dimmers?

While many LED bulbs are dimmable, not all of them are compatible. A common misconception is that any LED light can be dimmed with an LED dimmer. This, however, is not the case. The driver must be designed with dimming properties. We recommend always making sure you select the dimmer before your lights to ensure you don't exceed the maximum power load. Choose the right LED dimmer with this Dimmer Guide!

What are the average operating temperatures for LED bulbs?

In a normal environment, LED lights can produce a heated temperature between 68°F and 25°F. Unlike incandescent bulbs that emit 90% of its energy in the form of heat, LED bulbs generate very little heat. LED lights are equipped with fins that allow for better heat dispersion. create an account to start your order today.
