Are R20 and PAR20 bulbs the same or different?

Both R20 and PAR20 bulbs have a high light intensity compared to traditional halogen lamps. Because they are the same size in diameter, they can easily be swapped out  for one another. R bulbs, which stands for reflector light bulbs, have a wide flood beam angle that make them great for illuminating large areas.

PAR bulbs, on the other hand, stand for Parabolic Aluminized Reflector light bulbs and offer a spot light. PAR bulbs are ideal for outdoor security lights and indoor track lighting. A good rule of thumb is that PAR bulbs provide more focused light, and R bulbs provide a more diffused light.

What does a "smooth" bulb mean?

Light bulbs that are categorized as "smooth" offer a clean outside housing that can easily blend into your existing lighting fixtures. Smooth bulbs feature an opaque exterior that provide a bright but smooth light that's free from annoying cast shadows.

Where are LED R20 bulbs typically used?

LED R20 bulbs are commonly used in flood light fixtures, track lights, recessed ceiling lights, and downlight fixtures. The smaller R bulbs provide a dispersed light, but offer a slightly narrower beam angle. This makes R20 bulbs more versatile for providing wide flood or spot lighting depending on your lighting needs.

Which incandescent and halogen bulbs do LED R20 bulbs replace?

LED R20 bulbs can provide up to 85% in energy savings compared to traditional halogen and incandescent bulbs. In addition to having very low operating temperatures, R20 bulbs can be used to replace 50 Watt and 60 Watt halogen bulbs. They can last up to 25,000 hours with minimal maintenance costs.
