G40 Bulbs

There are three main sizes of glass globes: G30, G40, and G50. G40 bulbs are considered medium size, and they are the same measurements as a ping pong ball. For reference, the diameters of these three sizes are:

• G30: 1.25” (30 mm)
• G40: 1.5” (40 mm)
• G50: 2” (50 mm)

According to EnergyStar, light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs are 90% more efficient at producing light than incandescent light bulbs. G40 LED bulbs are available. To keep the LED bulb working efficiently over its lifetime, thermal management technology is included to provide the following:

• Absorb heat into heat sinks
• Release heat into the environment
• Prevent overheating, burning out, and other failures

If LEDs operate at a higher temperature than recommended, the light will degrade more quickly, meaning it will have a shorter lifespan.

Considered to be directional light sources, the light of G40 LED bulbs will be emitted at a certain angle. In comparison, CFL and incandescent bulbs emit heat and light in every direction, making them less energy efficient.
