What is an LED retrofit kit?

LED retrofit kits are LED fixtures that feature common lamp bases to allow you to keep your existing fixtures while replacing incandescent, metal halide, or HPS bulbs with a high powered LED luminaire.

What is a beam angle?

The beam angle of an LED bulb is the angular dimension of the cone of light from the lamp. It encompasses the central part of the beam out to the angle where the intensity is 50 percent of maximum.

The beam angle of an LED bulb

For most household ceiling fitted applications, a beam angle of 30 or 40 degrees would be sufficient. For outdoor applications, a wider beam angle of 60 to 120 degrees is preferred to cover a larger surface area.

What color temperature do I need?

Color Temperatures range from warm white to cool white.

Color temperatures range

  • 2700K - 3000K – provides an ambient, intimate, and personal mood with its warm white light that is ideal for living rooms, family rooms, and hospitality environments.
  • 3500K - 4100K – provides a clean and efficient neutral white light that is ideal for kitchen, bath, garage or commercial applications.
  • 5000K - 6500K - provides a vibrant and alert cool white light that is ideal for commercial, industrial, and institutional applications.

What are the advantages of an LED retrofit kit?

LED retrofit kits, featuring long life spans and high lumen output with low energy consumption, provide an easy way to update outdated lighting fixtures. They are energy efficient alternatives to incandescent bulbs or metal halide bulbs.

Where should an LED retrofit kit be used?

LED retrofit kits are ideal for any application where lighting updates are necessary.

Why should I consider a retrofit kit over a new design?

Retrofitting is much more cost effective than a full redesign, which involves replacing the fixtures as well as the bulbs and ballasts. Retrofitting allows you to keep your existing fixture and design, while still reaping the benefits of LED technology and efficiency.

What is retrofitting?

Retrofitting refers to the addition of new technology or features to older systems.
