How to mount a wall sconce?

To mount Nuvo’s 39W Slice LED Wall Sconce, follow the instructions below.

  • Before mounting the wall sconce, make sure to turn the power off to the circuit breaker to prevent injury.
  • Firstly, install the mounting plate into the junction box.
  • Use a screwdriver to screw in the mounting screws that are provided in the box. Make sure to secure the screws tightly into the mounting plate.
  • When screwing in the mounting plate, leave room so enough thread is available to mount the canopy with the screws.
  • Once there is enough room for the canopy, pull the electrical wires from the junction box and connect them using wire nuts to the wall sconce wires.
  • Then, put the wall sconce over the mounting plate and align it with the mounting screws. Secure the sconce with two screws.
  • This completes the mounting process!

Disclaimer: If you are not a licensed professional in electrical wiring, HomElectrical does not recommend DIY installation. Always hire an electrician for any, and all, electrical needs.

Where should wall sconces be placed?

Where you place your sconce is based on your preferences. However, wall sconces are typically placed around 60 inches from the floor.

Some areas that you can place wall sconces are hallways, living rooms, by windows, in the bathroom and above your bed.

  • Hallways and Living Rooms: If you want to place a wall sconce in these areas, the sconce should be placed between 60 and 70 inches from the ground to the junction box.
  • Windows or Doors: If your wall sconces are going near windows or doors, make sure to leave at least 6 inches from the frame.
  • Bathrooms: For your bathroom, the wall sconce should be between 60 to 65 inches from the floor to the center of the junction box.
  • Bedroom: Wall sconces are perfect for adding to your bedroom decor. To find the right placement, sit on your bed, and measure a couple of inches above your shoulder.
