How to choose vanity lighting?

When choosing a vanity light there are a few things to consider. One thing to consider is the size of the vanity light. It is recommended to have a vanity light that is about 75 percent the width of the mirror or vanity. It is important that the vanity is not wider than the vanity or mirror width.

Another thing to consider is the color finish. The color finish is important because it can align with the other fixtures in your bathroom. This will add a uniform look and add to the ambiance of the bathroom.

You also want to choose the type of shade and bulbs you want. Most shades are glass which protects you from the bright light. Choosing the shade to go with your light fixture is very important. Once you find the shade, then you can find bulbs that match the shade.

How do you take down a chandelier?

To remove a chandelier, hire a licensed electrician to prevent any injuries. Below are the steps they will take to remove the chandelier.

  • Step 1. First the electrician will turn the circuit breaker off. They will test to see if the electricity is still on by flipping the light switch a couple of times.
  • Step 2. Then the electrician will unscrew the washer on top of the cover plate. This will lower the cover plate and allow them access to the wiring in the wall.
  • Step 3. Once the cover plate is lowered, the electrician will test the wires to make sure electricity is not flowing through them. Then they will carefully pull the caps and wires down from the wall.
  • Step 4. The electrician will then remove the caps from the wires. First, they will slowly remove the wire cap off the ground wire. Then they will remove the wire cap that covers the power lead wire as well as the wire to the chandelier. Then they will remove the wire cap off the neutral wire as well as another wire to the chandelier.
  • Step 5. Once the wire caps are removed, the electrician will turn the center bolt and slowly lower the chandelier and place it on a soft surface.
  • Step 6. The electrician will then unscrew the screws to the mounting bracket and remove the mounting bracket. After this step, the chandelier has been removed, and you can add a new fixture to replace the chandelier.

How far apart should pendant lights be over an island?

When hanging pendants over an island, there are two formulas that you can use to see how far the pendant lights should be from each other.

One way to find the distance is to measure the island. Then divide that number by 4. The number you get is how many inches in from the end of the island to place the center of the pendants.

Another way to find the distance is to divide the length of the island by three and then hang the pendants that many inches from each end.
