What is a wrap light?

Wrap lights, or wraparound fixtures, are lighting systems that are used in commercial, industrial and institutional settings for even distribution of light throughout large spaces.

The term “wrap” or “wraparound” refers to the way that the light fixture wraps around the sides of the unit.

Wrap light fixtures can be flush, or troffer mounted depending on your ceiling type and available space.

Nuvo wrap lights consist of a frosted lens cover that helps to diffuse the light emitted by the fixture.

Where are wrap lights typically used?

Wrap lights are commonly used in large commercial and industrial areas where constant light is needed. Common placements include:

  • Offices
  • Parking garages
  • Utility rooms
  • Laundromats

Nuvo also offers pull chain wrap light solutions for smaller, more personal areas such as:

  • Kitchens
  • Hallways
  • Stairwells
  • Basements

How do wrap lights compare to linear strip lights?

The easiest way to tell the difference between a wrap light and a linear strip light is to identify their distinct design elements:

  • Wrap lights are characterized by their unique “wraparound” design, whereas linear strip lights have an exposed fluorescent bulb.
  • Wrap lights use advanced LED technology as a light source.
  • Wrap lights are built to emit light from the sides and downward, making them ideal for even light distribution, while linear strip lights only produce downward lighting.

Do wrap lights require any additionally purchased parts for operation?

All Nuvo wrap light models come ready to install with a diffuser lens and additional assembly parts.

All wrap light fixtures should be installed by an electrician to ensure efficient operation and power utilization.

Can Nuvo wrap lights be used outdoors?

No, Nuvo wrap light systems are constructed for indoor use only due to internal or external ceiling wiring methods required during installation.

Your electrician or electrical engineer will choose the most efficient installation method for your space depending on its size and construction.

What color temperature lights are best for my space?

Nuvo wrap lights come in three different color temperatures:

  • 3000K, or warm white light best suited for residential settings such as living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, etc.
  • 4000K, or cool white light that resembles the color of cool toned natural daylight. It is best used in commercial settings such as offices, kitchens and other areas where more focused lighting is needed.
  • 5000K, or daylights that closely resemble midday, and is used in areas such as retail stores, workshops, and hospitals.

Can I place Nuvo wrap light fixtures in closets?

Yes, Nuvo wrap light fixtures are certified to be installed in smaller areas such as clothes closets to provide safe and adequate lighting to the area.

Smaller model types such as the 2-ft LED ceiling wrap with a pull chain or motion sensor are recommended for small closets.
