Bay lights in general are commercial lights designed for higher ceilings. The classification of low versus high indicates the ideal height the bay light should illuminate from. High bay lights exceed 1000 lumens and are designed for ceilings of 20 feet or greater, while low bay lights produce less than 1000 lumens and are better for ceilings between 12 and 20 feet. While both create intense light, high bay lights are brighter and often have narrower beam angles than low bay lights.
