Tennis Court Lighting: Novalux LED Flood Lights

When lighting a tennis court, choosing the best fixtures to achieve optimal lighting not only improves the viewing experience for spectators, but also increases the performance of the players on the court.

Novalux, HomElectrical’s in-house brand, offers two series of LED flood lights consisting of products that match our base model and recommendations for sports lighting. Novalux LED flood lights are the ideal illuminators for outdoor tennis courts.

Novalux Anti-glared NEMO LED Flood Light

Tennis Court Flood Light Simulation

Novalux’s LED NEMO flood lights have significant features that appeal directly to tennis court lighting. Their buckle design and tempered glass protects and secures the lamps from weather elements.

They offer high luminaire efficiency up to 180 lumens per watt, a low glare rating, and uniformity as high as 0.7. Their asymmetrical optics are designed specifically to illuminate tennis courts and cast no light pollution toward the sky.

The image to the right simulates NEMO lights at work on a tennis court, showing how the light concentrates and casts no glare to audiences or neighboring spaces.

Novalux PRO LED High Mast Light

The PRO LED High Mast Light is equipped with asymmetrical P50 optics to guarantee full illumination of the desired area. It is perfect for both tennis court lighting and soccer fields.

The PRO LED technology is flicker-free and provides low glare and high uniformity. The folding aluminum fin design is lightweight and built with marine grade aluminum housing for maximum durability.

The diagram below shows how horizontal mounting allows the fixture’s beam angle to keep light from spilling upward and prevent unwanted areas from receiving glare.

Tennis Court Light Pollution Comparison

At HomElectrical, our base model for tennis court lighting consists of these specs:

Beam Angle: Asymmetrical P50

An asymmetrical beam angle allows the light to be concentrated in specific directions, reducing excess spill light, glare, and light pollution.

For special orders, customers can request other options. For the NEMO series, Novalux offers the following alternate beam angles:

Symmetrical: 20, 30, 40, 60, 90

Asymmetrical: 30*70, 97*47, T2, T3, P60, FT60, FT45, FT6W

For the PRO LED series, you can request the following options for alternate beam angles:

Symmetrical: 10, 15, 20, 25, 40, 60, 90

Asymmetrical: 140*100, P65, P60-L

Color Temperature: 5000K or 6000K

Higher color temperature means cooler light, which has an increasing effect on energy and alertness. These are vital for outdoor sports venues, especially at night.

Customers can also request other color temperature options for special orders. For both the NEMO and PRO LED series, Novalux offers 3000K and 4000K color temperatures on request.

Standard Mounting Bracket: Trunnion

Horizontal mounting and a uniform lighting design allows evenly distributed light to cast over the court’s surface. For outdoor tennis courts especially, a secure mounting bracket is paramount for resisting wind and weather conditions.

With a call in order, you can request a slipfitter or galvanized bracket instead to fit your needs.

Drivers: Meanwell

Powerful LED drivers ensure high luminaire efficiency, which saves money for high energy use applications such as tennis courts. Our base models include a Meanwell driver for installation.

If you require a Sosen driver instead, call our Customer Success team to place a special order over the phone.

We offer these exact specs in both the NEMO and PRO LED Novalux flood light series. To get Novalux fixtures with specs outside of our base model, call in to make a special request for your order.

When upgrading your tennis court lighting, consider spill light, glare, beam angle, and pole mounting height. Spill light refers to the light that shines past, or spills, beyond the sports facility and may bother neighboring occupants or adjacent properties.

Indoor and outdoor tennis courts require different levels of lighting to properly illuminate the space. Consider the uniformity ratio, horizontal illuminance, glare, and lighting distribution.

LED tennis court lights offer many advantages over MH and HPS fixtures. You can choose from many options of lights to find the one that works best for your court.
