What is the purpose of a Wrench?

Wrenches are tools that can be used to provide a strong mechanical grip to add the torque needed to turn objects.

  • Wrenches are typically used to secure nuts, bolts and other rotary fasteners.
  • These tools cut down both manual labor and time it takes to successfully tighten or remove rotary fasteners.
  • Wrench sets come with 3-17 different sized wrenches to meet all your needs.
  • Those with chrome plating resist corrosion and last longer.

What are the different type of Wrenches?

Check out the different type of wrenches and find the one that best suits you.

  • Combination Wrench – has a wrench on one side and a closed ring on the other. The closed ring allows for a stronger hold on nuts and bolts.
  • Adjustable Wrench – also known as a crescent wrench, allows you to change its size when dealing with bigger or smaller fasteners. It is the most versatile, but can slip when too much pressure is applied.
  • Allen Wrench – can be shaped like an ‘L’ or ‘T’ with a hexagon tip. These can be used to drive in bolts or screws but are commonly used for pairing.
  • Box-End Wrench – has enclosed rings on both sides and provides more control when dealing with nuts and bolts. It is perfect for those tight work spaces.
  • Socket Wrench – a single ratchet bar or handle that comes with multiple sockets to fit a variety of different sized nuts and bolts.
  • Strap Wrench – is used on big cylindrical objects like oil filters or pipe connectors. The strap is usually made out of rubber and can give you a proper grip.
  • Open End Wrench – has an open end on both sides that are shaped like a ‘C.’ Both ends are usually a different size from one another and is good for places with limited squeeze room.
